It is usually best to see a doctor prior to falling pregnant.

This is to ensure that you are prepared and in the best possible health at the time of conception. This can either be achieved with your GP or otherwise with a specialist obstetrician, especially if you have pre-existing medical conditions or have had a prior complicated pregnancy.

During this check-up, we will discuss how to optimise your health to ensure you are as ready as possible for pregnancy. This will usually involve a number of blood tests, and occasionally vaccinations or pap smear. We will also discuss what to expect in early pregnancy.
